What will the day of surgery be like?

Your tumescent tummy tuck maybe performed in a hospital, free-standing ambulatory facility or an office-based surgical suite. In many instance subsequent to your tumescent tummy tuck, small drain tubes will have put in place in order to avoid the accumulation of fluids. With a full tummy tuck procedure, fluid accumulation may lead to an elevated risk of infection. The use of drains will dramatically reduce this risk.

Gauze or other dressings will be applied following your tumescent tummy tuck and you will later receive instructions regarding the post-operative care in relation to those dressings. A full tummy tuck procedure, being highly invasive, will require specific and detailed wound care instructions that must be strictly followed.
