Liposuction is available in two main varieties. The first is Conventional Liposuction which will entail the aspiration of fat beneath the skin through the use of hollow needles, with small diameters, that are inserted through small incisions. The number of incisions that are needed are major factors in determining the price of liposuction in any particular instance. But the cost liposuction, itself, should not be confused with the quality of that cosmetic surgery. Cosmetic surgery costs are also dependent of the experience of the surgeon and his or her reputation.
After the needles (cannulas) are inserted, an attached high vacuum pressure device causes the excess fat to attach to the cannula openings. This attached fat is removed from its bed by the cosmetic surgeon by moving the needle back and forth until the fat particles are aspirated with a collection device. One of the dangers of liposuction, in this manner, is the noticeable scarring that is left behind by this procedure. This is why some patients opt for “smart liposuction”. In these procedures, the smart liposuction cost can be lessened, due to its less invasive procedure. However, this type of liposuction is usually effective in cases where a small amount of fat is needed to removed (this is also the case with most “alternatives to liposuction”). The main advantage with these procedures, however is less patient recovery downtime and a marked reduction of the dangers of liposuction faced in a conventional liposuction.
The other common form of liposuction is Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction (UAL) in which sound waves are translated into mechanical vibrations which melt excess fat. This procedure was, in the past, used to facilitate conventional liposuction. These days, a hollow probe is used, permitting simultaneous melting and draining of the fat.
