Along with the standard economic cosmetic surgery costs, there are other things to consider that may fall under the category of liposuction “costs” which can include liposuction bruising and liposuction swelling. These issues, of course, should always be discussed with your doctor during your initial consultation, so that you can be prepared when it comes to the recovery phase of your liposuction procedure.
Any invasive cosmetic surgery procedure carries with it a risk of certain inevitable side effects. In the case of liposuction bruising, the results should only last for a limited amount of time and then begin to abate as the liposuction swelling also begins to fade.
It’s also important to keep in mind that significant liposuction swelling and liposuction bruising can be limited by strictly following the pre and post-operative instructions that have been given by the physician. If these instructions are followed and significant swelling and bruising persist – then this may be a sign of a more serious issue and you should alert your doctor immediately.
One of the more common sites for liposuction swelling side effects is in the ankles. This may also be accompanied by liposuction bruising at the site of the procedure, along with a lumpy appearance that is due to the removal of excess fat at the site. If a patient has undergone a liposuction procedure on the thighs, then inflammation of the veins may be present at that location.
Liposuction bruising is usually a minor complication and can be treated through the use of cold packs directly after the procedure. The same is true with liposuction swelling.
The biggest problem that can be present with liposuction bruising and liposuction swelling is the possible formation of blood clots. Blood clots that travel to other parts of the body can carry extreme risks. Therefore if the liposuction bruising does not begin to fade in the specified amount of time, a visit to the physician is indicated.
